Take part: Carers Strategy draft priorities shared for feedback

The Partnership is producing its next Carers Strategy, a document required by the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 which explains how we will identify and support unpaid carers; protect carers’ rights; and make sure carers are involved in decisions that affect them.

The last phase of engagement is now underway, gathering feedback about the draft priorities and actions which have been informed by views collected so far.

A survey is open until 13 September.

Our draft priorities:

Priority 1: Carer Health and Wellbeing

This priority is about helping carers feel healthy, happy and supported. We want to make sure carers can get help when they start feeling stressed, before things become too difficult.

Priority 2: Access to Information and Support

This priority is about making it easier for carers to find help and get the support they need. This includes information, advice, taking a break from caring, or spending time with other carers.

Priority 3: Carers as Valued Partners

This priority is about making sure carers feel heard, respected, and included in decisions about the person they care for, when appropriate.

Priority 4: Fair, Inclusive, and Accessible Support

This priority is about making sure every carer can get the help and support they need. We want support to be fair, welcoming, and easy to access for everyone, no matter their background or situation.

Priority 5: Young Carers & Young Adult Carers

This priority is about helping Young Carers and Young Adult Carers get the support they need so they can reach their goals, enjoy life, and have the same opportunities as other young people their age.
