Access team recruitment now open

A new team responsible for supporting people who haven’t previously accessed social work and social care, or are not currently open to services, has begun recruiting, with internal applications now open.

The Access Team will be the first point of entry into Adult Social Work and Social Care for most* adults aged 16+ in Falkirk.

With a focus on prevention, the team will improve signposting to suitable services or support options and will ensure people access care without unnecessary waiting times.

Adults who are not currently engaged with an existing locality or specialist team will be supported by the Access Team, which is expected to process and provide initial intervention to over half of the incoming workload received by existing locality duty work, adult support and protection, and occupational therapy teams.

For local professionals in other services, including Police, Council, NHS, Fire, and the voluntary sector, the Access Team will also be the first point of contact to discuss concerns for vulnerable adults not already supported by a social work team. The Access Team will provide advice and provide urgent support to those awaiting initial assessment.

The Access Team will include Social Work, Social Care, and Occupational Therapy expertise, allowing for urgent interventions and working to prevent unplanned admissions to hospitals and care homes, instead triaging and referring to appropriate immediate support and specialist interventions.

The new Access Team will bring together:

  • Team Manager
  • Assistant Team Managers
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Social Workers
  • Social Care Officers
