Join our Board: Service user representative opportunities
We are recruiting a service user representative and a substitute to join Falkirk’s Integration Joint Board.
If you have experience using local health or social care services, this is your chance to share your perspective and make a difference. You’ll work alongside people nominated by NHS Forth Valley, Falkirk Council, charities, other service users, and carers.
About the Board
The Board plans and oversees many local health and social care services, with an annual budget worth more than £310m. Its goal is to achieve the priorities set out in the Partnership’s Strategic Plan 2023 – 2026.
Why we need you
The service user representative and substitute are important members of the Board and have contributed to its work since its establishment in 2016. The Partnership seeks nominations for the service user representative and substitute for the next three-year term of office, in line with our governance arrangements.
Who can apply?
You can apply if you:
- Are 18 or older.
- Live in the Falkirk Council area and are registered with a GP here.
- Have experience of accessing health and social care services.
Other relevant experience and skills include:
- Experience of being on a committee or board.
- Working or volunteering for a charity, health board, local council or private sector.
- Listening to and representing different views (even if they are different from your own).
- Understanding of current health and social care issues.
- Good communication and personal skills.
- Confidence to raise relevant points and ask questions in meetings
- Ability to understand reports – you can access our previous reports on the Partnership’s website.

What’s involved?
You will:
- Take part in induction and training sessions.
- Attend six Board meetings and six development sessions a year.
- Prepare for and participate fully in meetings.
- Help with consultations.
- Complete a Register of Interests, to comply with The Ethical Standards in Public Life etc. (Scotland) Act 2000.
Important information
Representatives are appointed by the Board for a period of three years. If you wish to step down at any time, you will be supported to do so. Reasonable expenses will be provided, if required.
Board dates in 2025:
31 Jan | 21 Mar | 20 Jun | 5 Sep | 31 Oct | 5 Dec
(All Board meetings are from 9:30 am to 12 pm).
