Falkirk pupils invited to explore their future in care: Careers Event

News

Teams from across local health and social care services will host an interactive careers day on Wednesday 12 November, highlighting the many paths into the sector for young people.

Hosted by Developing the Young Workforce and Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership, the event will draw attention to the wide range of roles available and encourage the next generation to consider a career in care.

Those interested in care roles can learn about the career and education pathways into the sector, with career talks, and interactive demonstrations available on the day.

Career paths to be explored include those in care homes, care at home, day care support, reablement, mental health services, and social work.

For many care roles, new starts do not need qualifications or experience to get started – just a caring attitude and willingness to help others.

Some employers, including Falkirk Council, offer to fund a qualification in health and social care (SVQ in Social Services and Healthcare) as part of their job offer.

The skills and knowledge gained from such a qualification can help people gain entry to a range of professions including occupational therapy, social work, nursing, physiotherapy, and others.

The event will host Falkirk pupils at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus on Wednesday 12 November, with attendance booked and arranged directly by schools and Developing the Young Workforce.
