Industrial action: Care and Support at Home Service
We have received notice of industrial action which may temporarily affect the care provided by Falkirk Council’s internal Care and Support at Home Service. If your care is provided by a private provider, your care should remain unaffected.
The industrial action is planned for Saturday 18 May and Sunday 19 May 2024 by GMB Scotland.
Our service will operate with a reduced capacity on these dates due to some staff taking part in industrial action.
You may see changes to your care and support during these days. This may include a different team member or care provider attending your home; a change to the usual time you receive a support visit; or a reduction in care to provide essential support only.
We are working to ensure all essential care is provided to all those that need care and support, and understand the inconvenience or concern that short notice changes to care can cause.
Industrial action can have a significant impact on our ability to to provide the same consistent care and support.
To minimise any disruption, family members, friends and other informal carers may wish to assist with support needs during the industrial action. Anyone wishing to provide support for their loved one during strike days (such as providing medication prompts, meal preparation, or helping with personal care), can contact the Care and Support at Home Team on 01324 50 60 70 (then selecting option 3, then option 1).
