Falkirk support worker among local government staff recognised at royal reception

A Falkirk support worker was one of 350 local government workers hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla during a special reception at St James’s Palace in London.

The event on Tuesday 3 February was held to thank local and regional government workers who deliver vital services across England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland.

Social workers, staff involved in protecting women from violence, girls’ leaders, headteachers, public health workers and disability services coordinators were among attendees from a wide range of key roles at Tuesday’s event.

Ann Corbett, who is a Support Worker for the Dollar Park Dementia Service and has worked in local dementia services for more than 25 years, travelled to London to represent the local area.

She said: “It was a real honour to attend St James’s Palace and meet others who showed the many ways local services make a difference in their communities.

“Being part of a celebration that recognised the value of public service was incredibly meaningful, and I was pleased to represent the hard work and commitment of my colleagues in Falkirk.

“I have worked within Falkirk’s Dementia Services for more than 25 years, and like many of my colleagues remain very passionate about the support we provide to people and their families.”
