Warning issued over scam calls targeting MECS users

Users of Falkirk’s Mobile Emergency Care Service (MECS) are urged to be vigilant following reports of scam calls targeting vulnerable residents.

These cold call scams are falsely offering to renew or replace equipment for a cost, aiming to deceive and exploit our community members. This is a scam.

MECS services provided by Falkirk Council and Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership do not require additional payments for equipment upgrades or renewals. We will never ask for payment or bank details over the phone.

If you receive a call like this:

  • Do not share any personal or financial information.
  • Hang up immediately.
  • Phone Police Scotland on 101 to report fraud or any other financial crime.

Stay alert and help protect yourself and others from fraud.
