Training: Smoking and mental health – understanding the IMPACT
This training is open to NHS, local authority and 3rd Sector colleagues in the Forth Valley area who support people with poor mental health who may smoke. Registration required in advance.
About this training
There are strong links between smoking and mental health. People living with poor mental health are twice as likely to smoke as the wider population, yet are just as motivated to quit.
IMPACT sessions are designed to explore the relationship between poor mental health and smoking, how smoking affects some mental health medications, how to encourage those you support to open up in discussing their smoking and supporting someone to engage with the stop smoking service to make a quit attempt.
