18–29 year old Covid-19 vaccination registration extended

Eighteen to 29-year-olds in Falkirk now have until 8pm on Friday 11 June 2021 to register for the Covid-19 vaccine and get their appointment details sent to them by email or text. Those not registered by then will be sent their appointment details by letter at a later date.

The deadline for registration was originally set for 4 June but those in the age bracket now have until 8pm on Friday 11 June to register by going online at nhsinform.scot/under30register or calling 0800 030 8013.

Jillian Taylor, Operational Lead for the Covid-19 vaccination programme in NHS Forth Valley, said: “I’d urge anyone aged between 18 and 29 in the Forth Valley area who has not yet registered to get their appointment details by email or text to do so before the extended deadline of 11 June. The registration process is simple, easy and saves time in getting your vaccine appointment.”

Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Humza Yousaf, said: “The initial response to the registration line by 18 to 29-year-olds has been really encouraging and by extending it further we hope to reach more of this age group.

“It’s especially helpful for students who are registered with a GP at their term time address to get their appointment details by email or text so they don’t miss appointment letters being sent by post.”

A survey conducted by the Scottish Government showed that 90 per cent of 18 to 29-year- olds in Scotland will get the Covid-19 vaccine when offered it, or have had it already, with just under seven in ten (69 per cent) eager to get it.

Sixty-nine per cent of 18 to 29-year-olds who will get/have got the vaccine cite ‘wanting to protect themselves and their loved ones’ as their key motivator. Sixty-seven per cent were worried about catching Covid-19, with 73 per cent worried about passing it on.

The survey of 1,000 18 to 29-year-olds in Scotland was conducted by Censuswide on behalf of the Scottish Government during 14th– 19th May 2021.
