Update: Short Break Service at Thornton Gardens
A temporary registration variation, put in place during the pandemic, is to end on 31st May 2023.
A temporary registration change for Falkirk Council’s Thornton Gardens was approved by the Care Inspectorate in 2020, allowing the home to offer short break services to older people as well as its original registration covering adults with a learning disability.
This registration variation has been extended three times – providing additional capacity for the short break service while alternative accommodation was unavailable due to the impact of the pandemic.
The Care Inspectorate has confirmed this registration variation will end on 31 May 2023, therefore Thornton Gardens will return to providing short breaks and respite care to a maximum of 6 adults with a learning disability.
Older people accessing the Short Break Service will now be supported through other resources. The Short Break team wishes to thank staff at Thornton Gardens for their hospitality and support during this period, which has enabled as many people as possible to enjoy a short break.
If you have used the short break service during this time – we’d love to hear your thoughts. You can share your story and feedback using Care Opinion at www.careopinion.org.uk/3061/shortbreaksthorntongardens
